Studio Policies
All lessons are held in my home studio.
Attendance: Lessons are conducted weekly at a specific day and time which is reserved for each student.
Registration: There is a one time non-refundable $20.00 registration/material fee for new students.
Payment: Tuition for a 45 or 60-minute lesson is divided into 9 monthly equal payments and is due the first lesson of each month. You will be notified of any additional costs for materials such as books or special projects. See Tuition page for details.
Performance Class: An opportunity for students to come together and play for each other. In the class they will learn to critique each other in a constructive manner and develop good listening skills. Games are often played to help solidify concepts and to just have fun with music! There is no charge for this class.
Recitals and Opportunities: There are two recitals a year. The annual Charlottesville Music Teachers Association solo festival is a fun performance opportunity where your child can hear others play and be critiqued by two other teachers.
It is helpful if parents of very young beginners attend lessons with their child. This is often essential for very young, beginning children who need help practicing and understanding lesson assignments. Depending on your child's maturity level and age, they will need your help for a while.
Holidays: I will observe the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, MLK, Jr. Day, Easter/Spring Break, Memorial Day.
Observations and Communication:
Students with involved parents are more successful. The learning triangle of parent, student and teacher forms a team working together. I have an open-door policy and gladly encourage you to attend lessons. As we work together to help your child progress, please let me know of any suggestions or concerns you have for your child. I am always happy to listen.
